Thanks to Constable Rob Enright and Special Constable Karen Markus for their visit on Friday, October 24. The following are some of the key points from their discussion with our intermediate students:
When we use "technology", what is expected?
- responsible use of social media
- digital citizenship, which is defined as "the norms of appropriate, responsible behaviour" with regards to using technology (e.g., online communications, use of devices such as cell phones, computers, xBox or PS4 networks, etc.)
Interesting Facts:
- over 95% of predators follow youth on instagram, xBox, etc.
- once you hit "send" or "upload" on any device, your photos, comments, etc. are out there forever - even the police can't get it back or remove it
- the constables recommended that passwords should be changed from 4 digits to 8-12 digits (harder to hack)
